GPUs are much faster with part 3 WUs (less than 2 minutes on RTX 4090),

The following: https://sech.me/boinc/Amicable/result.php?resultid=76449455 took 14 minutes and 15 seconds, is this an acceptable runtime on a 4080?

Sergei feel free to have a look at these
https://sech.me/boinc/Amicable/result.php?resultid=75231602 ran for 39 minutes 23 seconds & https://sech.me/boinc/Amicable/result.php?resultid=75212364 ran for 41 minutes 35 seconds. Could it be these are not suited well to a 4080? 2nd task was paired with a 3080 in a laptop and ran for around 15 minutes

I hope so. My RAC is dropping like a stone! <g>

Have a read of the following thread https://sech.me/boinc/Amicable/forum_thread.php?id=298 I think it will help explain about why your RAC is dropping

https://sech.me/boinc/Amicable/result.php?resultid=69566020 ran for 28 minutes and 22 seconds on a RTX 4080. I didn't think I would see a task run for that length of time for this project on my card. I did not have time to check the GPU utilization this may have been really low.

Further to my post below. I now understand why the task ran for so long it was because GPU utilisation was low for the majority of the task. I am unsure though why the 2060 finished it in less than half the time

Interestingly the other task ran on a RTX 2060 only taking 13 minutes 33 seconds I am wondering does this task qualify for extra credit? All good if it doesn't, just thought I would ask. Maybe not since the 2060 ran it in under 15 minutes

In regards to the V RAM usage it has been 7 GB per task for long as I can remember, have a look at top news item on the front page dated 25 October 2019.

Both the project you are running require a reasonable amount of system memory. I believe Amicable Numbers needs around 7 GB per task and Einstein also requires a reasonable amount of memory. So I am not sure if you have a memory leak or if it was just a combination of 2 memory intensive projects

Seems like a decent over clock. I'm not in a place to comment in regards to you GPU clock bouncing around it sounds reasonable. One thing I would suggest trying is return GPU clocks back to what they were before you make changes and see if the GPU utilisation stops fluctuating. This is assuming you are wanting to find out what caused it

I would recommend using a program called GPU Z, this will give you much more accurate reading on your GPU utilisation. To be honest I and seeing the same 3 – 4% fluctuation using task manager

On Windows 11 with a 3080 I am seeing a fluctuation of between 3 and 4% utilisation anywhere from 96 up to 100% I don't feel this is anything to worry about.

Funny... I've had long WUs these last days but today I've done more than 10 WUs in less than1 minute each.

First time it happens, is that okay? Before that I was around 20 minutes. (RTX 3060)

micropro

Swings and roundabouts, some short some longer. It makes a nice change from tasks running for over an hour on a high-end card. I even had CPU units take around half an hour

I can also back this up. Some tasks are bouncing around in terms of GPU load from 74% right up to 98% particular task I am referring to is 45999950 ran for 1 hour 22 minutes and 36 seconds have also noticed tasks seem to speed up near the end, have you noticed this?
The longest task I have had recently is 45994289 it ran for 1 hour 29 minutes and 6 seconds. All of these tasks in a on a RTX 2070 on Windows 11
It appears that is not the case I thought if a task ran slower there were pairs in it, my pairs discovered have not increased for a long time. I will also be interested to hear if credit will be adjusted to accommodate longer running tasks

In the future tasks/work units may need to be made shorter. Task 43106107 took 2 hours 33 minutes 34 seconds on a RTX 2070. Is this too long for a 2070 GPU? If it's any assistance I am running Windows 10 professional 21 H1

yeah i recently have gotten some huge estimates for completion. According to the current estimate , it says it will be 7,438 days to complete. My hardware is not that bad.

Do i just abort those long ones? Like if task wont get done by the 'deadline'?

If it was me I would let it run for a a few hours or the same amount of time that previous tasks have run as the time may decrease to a realistic value. If you don't think it will reach its deadline feel free to abort

Thanks for the response. I've made the change. Sorry for the inconvenience. I'm assuming all the jobs I didn't finish, will go back into the queue to process right?

You're welcome & yes you are correct results will go back out to other computers. I wouldn't worry about it too much tasks do not complete on time sometimes.

Welcome to the project. How many hours has the task been running for? If you can complete it it would be ideal, if you don't think it's going to be completed by the deadline feel free to abort the task and move on to next one.
I am reasonably confident it will not take 119 years to complete

I am reasonably sure this is the reason why the task took so long to process, thought I would make a note of it in case this is a candidate that is worthy of more credit

I have over 500 tasks in "pending" status. C'mon, wingperson :)

I just had a look at your host that is running a 1070 with 100's of pending results. I have come up with a possible explanation as to why results are taking so long to validate, could be because there are some long running tasks over a 1000 seconds. Sometimes I find for whatever reason people tend to abandon long running tasks when they are used to shorter tasks. Just my 2 cents

Yea for the WU's to get so huge so suddenly i'm guessing it must be the work generators again. At least I hope thats the reason., otherwise the ETA of this project will be way off.

There seems to be entire batch's taking 10 - 15+ times longer than usual. My 1080 ti's are take anywhere from 2 - 4 hours each WU. My average before this was around 16 mins.
Most if not all the WU's in the below batches are massive.

Interesting the task I posted link for amicable_10_21_8343_1603636201.826685_451_3 is from the same batch as the 2nd task you mentioned. One thing I didn't mention in my original post was when I downloaded the task in question the average run time was over an hour.
