On my desktop 4090 running at 350 watt using one monitor I get
average runtime of 78 – 79 seconds after a long time running I get between 174 – 180 seconds if I pause a task letting another one start then resuming the paused task it will start from the beginning and return to my average runtime.

I gather to get the impressive runtime of between 20 – 50 seconds you are running your card at full power of 450 watt?

Top credit badge is given for 1 billion credits, so probably not... Part 4 shouldn't find any new amicable pairs, that's the whole point of it - it will double check the exhaustive searches I did before in that range.

Thank you for the feedback. From what you have said it sounds like the double check part of the project will be reasonably short. For example not lasting into February 2026

There will be one more part for 1021, several months worth of tasks - it will check largest prime factors > 1014 to confirm that all amicable numbers are already found in that range.

As for 1022 - I'm not sure it's feasible. The current search took 6 years, so 1022 should take more than 60 years (the scaling is a bit worse than linear)...

If I maintain a "avg work done" of a "4,200,000" am I in with a chance of being able to reach the top "credit badge" (currently 368,529,287 before the end the project?. I gather finding her amicable pairs should be reasonably low while working on part 4?

Interestingly I am seeing the similar behaviour. I sometimes have tasks that will run for over 3 minutes.

I get around this problem by simply suspending then resuming the task in Boinc manager (if I happened to notice tasks are running longer than around 1 minute 40 seconds)

I am running my card at 320 Watt. I didn't notice a reduction in time running it at 450 Watt

Ran for just over 13 minutes https://sech.me/boinc/Amicable/result.php?resultid=97107893

I gather this is something to do with my hardware as this is happened before. I believe the above tasks are running over twice the amount of time they should be. Since task time nine double I believe that should be a maximum of just over 6 minutes

Generally tasks seem to run around this 3 minute mark https://sech.me/boinc/Amicable/result.php?resultid=97107075

My question was more : since you run it standalone, how can it be that "127658160073" is the only parameter needed to feed "all the data to the task" ?

In other words : when ran via boinc as a task, the only parameters sent to boinc to run the executable are "127658160073" ?

I have no idea

Yes PowerShell is a shell/terminal same as good old cmd.exe from windows, the purpose is the same.

Good you could make it :)

I'm not sure to understand the concept of running amicable "standalone", so the "127658160073" in the launch parameters = the details of the task that would receive from the project and run ?

I ran a task in standalone mode because I wanted to see how long it was going to take to run, when I ran the task on Boinc it took 12 minutes where it should have taken around 3 minutes. in standalone mode it did take around 3 minutes

In a separate folder, then check the output. One of the files will have start/stop timestamps.

How/where do I run it, in command prompt?

Can you try to run the same WU again, manually? And without anything else running on the PC. I think it was a random fluctuation not related to the WU itself.

Yes I can run it manually if you can give me the steps to do so. (Feel free to message me if you would prefer) I am not sure how I can run the workunit without anything else running? I am comfortable with work units running longer. At the end of the day and need to use my computer while boinc is running. I don't understand why there is large variations in run time when there is plenty of RAM and free CPU cores although it may be a hyper- threaded one and not an actual core. It may be 20/05/24 NZST/New Zealand standard time before I come back to you with result

I am not always able to do this to every task. As previously stated throughout this thread I am using a 4080. Apart from using my computer for general things while they are processing nothing else is being used by my GPU
All I'm saying is tasks do not appear to run a consistent time is 3 minutes each on my card

Both the project you are running require a reasonable amount of system memory. I believe Amicable Numbers needs around 7 GB per task and Einstein also requires a reasonable amount of memory. So I am not sure if you have a memory leak or if it was just a combination of 2 memory intensive projects

Seems like a decent over clock. I'm not in a place to comment in regards to you GPU clock bouncing around it sounds reasonable. One thing I would suggest trying is return GPU clocks back to what they were before you make changes and see if the GPU utilisation stops fluctuating. This is assuming you are wanting to find out what caused it

I would recommend using a program called GPU Z, this will give you much more accurate reading on your GPU utilisation. To be honest I and seeing the same 3 – 4% fluctuation using task manager

On Windows 11 with a 3080 I am seeing a fluctuation of between 3 and 4% utilisation anywhere from 96 up to 100% I don't feel this is anything to worry about.

Swings and roundabouts, some short some longer. It makes a nice change from tasks running for over an hour on a high-end card. I even had CPU units take around half an hour

Do i just abort those long ones? Like if task wont get done by the 'deadline'?

If it was me I would let it run for a a few hours or the same amount of time that previous tasks have run as the time may decrease to a realistic value. If you don't think it will reach its deadline feel free to abort
