See here.

I checked some other users' hosts and I can't find a single one of these large tasks getting successfully finished. It seems they either end in errors or are aborted because of their bizarre runtime.

It would be nice not having to choose between constant micromanaging my crunchers and a lot of wasted time and energy. Any developments of comments on this?

This was a bug in the task generator, next batch of tasks (2N ranges) will never have tasks with more than ~500 billion numbers to check.

Are we sure this was fixed with the new batch? I'm seeing WUs like this again...

The new batch hasn't started yet. It will have factorizations starting with
2N*...

oh, I assumed it had because the server status recently switched to "part 2". Guess that's not entirely the same thing?

I just added the second batch and changed status to "part 2", but it actually displays both batches now.

Not sure, if this is the same problem but I have encountered a few CPU tasks with impossible runtimes.

I have killed two of them:
https://sech.me/boinc/Amicable/result.php?resultid=30675519
https://sech.me/boinc/Amicable/result.php?resultid=30678913

Both of them seem to have finished just fine as GPU tasks.

Currently there are three more in my queue with prospective runtimes of about 600 days??
It would be nice to know whether the error lies on my part or in the workunits themselves.

I use 4 cpu and they normally finish between 3 and 6 hours but i am having to abort most as they are on course at 33% in just under 2 hours then the percentage drops to 1% so there seems no point in continuing

Seems like my GPU tasks are running fine, a bunch with computation errors the last couple of days though, but my CPU task are starting off as ~3 hours jobs and then after hours of work on them jump to between 6 and 23 DAYS to complete.
When this happens, and happening more and more, I abort since they won't complete for days to weeks after the deadline. I don't have the time to baby sit BOINC for a single project.
