I've got 2 tasks running - one estimates it'll take 64+ days, the other estimates 182+ days. Based on how long they've been running, I don't think the estimates are too far off. Are these "bad" WUs? (BTW, they are both allocated 2 CPUs) |

OK. I aborted both. The longest estimate WU had climbed to over 206 days. The other had decreased to 60+ days, but was due in 4, so... |

This is strange. Your wingmen didn't seem to have any problems with these 2 WUs. Both were running GPU version though. |

I appear to have a similar issue Most tasks complete in 6 hours, but some just stop moving forward, while still processing. After 10 hours I abort them and the next ones just process normal and in 6 hours. I do not see any difference between them |

A reboot of my laptop seems to work. I will monitor for the next few days |

A reboot of my laptop seems to work. Note that the start phase of these WU's requires 3GB RAM - you'd be hard pushed to start 2 at a time, and certainly not 3. |

I returned the following task yesterday https://sech.me/boinc/Amicable/result.php?resultid=30879313 it ran for just over 52 minutes. It took the other person over 4 hours on an AMD card. I am just wondering why this took such a long time to run and whether or not it was related to the tasks quite some time ago that got granted more credit? Unfortunately I am unable to find that thread |

Probably because you have RTX 2070 and the other guy has old "Radeon R9 200 Series". |

Thanks for information. I just thought for a 2070 a task to take 52 minutes and 48 seconds was a long time but perhaps it's a new normal? It's the longest task I have had in recent times |

Yes, this was unusually slow. It's probably related to the nature of the search - some ranges can't be filtered well enough, so more computations per number are needed. |

Unfortunately I am unable to find that thread Don't you know that - 1) Some people don't have as good equipment as you. 2) Some 'wingmen's tasks terminate without a result, and have to be resent to a another cruncher. 3) Some cruncher-wingmen accumulate a task queue with up to 10 days' work - you need to wait those days before your work can be confirmed. We are all volunteers - some more voluntary than others ! Have patience - your efforts are not in vain. |

I agree with what you say John. I was asking out of curiosity because I've never had a work unit take that long, I gave as a reference. I completely agree all work is good work |

I have a similar thing on 2 laptops. Most of the WUs process fine, but suddenly there are a few that are stuck and need to be aborted. Process restart or even laptop restart do not work. Another observation is that the processing speed is quite different and not related to the time that is estimated. Latest Boinc clients on Windows 10. |

Same problem on a raspberry 4. I'll stop the wu. |

Long-running tasks have returned https://sech.me/boinc/Amicable/result.php?resultid=35304497 took a little over 1 hour 47 minutes to complete. Not sure if it's possible but it would be nice if we could perhaps get some extra credit for long-running tasks? Current average turnaround time is .74 hours. Seems people are aborting long-running tasks, I have over 10 of these currently in my queue I will let them run all ranging between _2 & _3 |

Yea for the WU's to get so huge so suddenly i'm guessing it must be the work generators again. At least I hope thats the reason., otherwise the ETA of this project will be way off. There seems to be entire batch's taking 10 - 15+ times longer than usual. My 1080 ti's are take anywhere from 2 - 4 hours each WU. My average before this was around 16 mins. Most if not all the WU's in the below batches are massive. _10617_ _8343_ IE: amicable_10_21_10617_1603643701.863095_37_2 and amicable_10_21_8343_1603636201.826685_88_2 |

Interesting the task I posted link for amicable_10_21_8343_1603636201.826685_451_3 is from the same batch as the 2nd task you mentioned. One thing I didn't mention in my original post was when I downloaded the task in question the average run time was over an hour. 10_21_8343_1603636201.826685_451_3 Created 29 Oct 2020, 6:25:54 UTC & Sent 29 Oct 2020, 20:01:24 UTC Report deadline 3 Nov 2020, 20:01:24 UTC Received 29 Oct 2020, 21:50:08 UTC For this result there was roughly 13 hours 35 minutes between being created and been sent. Interesting thing to note the average turnaround time is backup to 2.03 hours the highest I have seen it in a long time |

I've got some big ones too - cancelled a few, but one that got done took 2 days https://sech.me/boinc/Amicable/result.php?resultid=35476847 My usual runtime is around 2 hours. |

10_21_22001_1610793602.165227_848 took 2 hours 48 minutes 15 seconds to process on a RTX 2070. I am aware the number after 10_21 is very big 22001. I am reasonably sure this is the reason why the task took so long to process, thought I would make a note of it in case this is a candidate that is worthy of more credit My normal running time at the moment is just over 8 minutes. At time of posting the average turnaround time is just over 52 minutes 0.87 hours |

I have just started doing this project and have completed about 300K units in the last 20 days. I now have a unit with a predicted run time of 43,682 days, i.e. a 119 years give or take. Guess I should just return this unit?? |
