Message 2101 - Posted: 6 Sep 2025, 11:20:57 UTC

My computer finishes a 10^21 3.09 task in about 100 seconds (RTX4090, nothing overclocked). But after a few hours it jumps to 300 seconds consistently. After a reboot it's back at 100 seconds per task.

Any ideas? Is there a method to reset other than reboot?

Thanks.

Interestingly I am seeing the similar behaviour. I sometimes have tasks that will run for over 3 minutes.

I get around this problem by simply suspending then resuming the task in Boinc manager (if I happened to notice tasks are running longer than around 1 minute 40 seconds)

I am running my card at 320 Watt. I didn't notice a reduction in time running it at 450 Watt

Curious. Are the 4090's connected to a monitor?

100 sounds about right for a 4090. My 5060 Ti's are finishing as fast as Speedy's 4090. I get a variety of times with my 4060 laptop depending on what else it's doing.

Speedy has increased his/her kernel to 23 so that's good.

Interesting how my 4090 is matching a 5060 TI in terms of runtime. I must say you have an impressive RAC

Yes I am running 1 monitor off the card

Dumb luck stumbling onto MSI ventus cards. I haven't seen anything faster in each class.

I use the IGPU so the MSIs are dedicated to crunching.

I have used MSI Ventus desktop 3080 card before and found really good.

Update to my initial post.

After a reboot, task runtimes are between 20-50 seconds.

After a few hours runtimes step-jump to 200-250 seconds. Again, clears up after a reboot.

I tried a suspend/resume but the improvement doesn't last as long as a reboot.

Yes, the GPU is hooked up to a monitor on a working computer.

On my desktop 4090 running at 350 watt using one monitor I get
average runtime of 78 – 79 seconds after a long time running I get between 174 – 180 seconds if I pause a task letting another one start then resuming the paused task it will start from the beginning and return to my average runtime.

I gather to get the impressive runtime of between 20 – 50 seconds you are running your card at full power of 450 watt?
