The server will be running in the foreseeable future. It hosts the amicable numbers database, so it's not going away just because the project ended.

Good to hear. I will be sending you a DM here soon(ish) about some things. Will you be checking them frequently or is their another method I can use to reach out to you?

Anyone manage to find any amicable pairs over the past few weeks at the end of this project? You can easily check them by going to your account home page and look for the latest entry in the "Amicable pairs discovered xxxx" field.
I crunched at least 10K workunits since Feb just to reach my low bar 250M goal but didn't find any.

Nope, last pair for me was back in 2024.

I think for nearly the last 18 month: nothing.
When I asked here, I got the answer, that we are in an area where are no or just some.

Hundreds canceled
User then moved onto GPUGrid and was wondering why they downloaded 17 tasks.

Thanks Sergei for this very useful info. I'm into Amicable just to find the pairs. After running for over 10K units this year, I'm guessing it's going to be extremely hard to find one. Well, at least we officially cover all the remaining search spaces.

Good luck to your new future endeavors, whatever that will be.

Just for my understanding: That's it? The end of Amicable Numbers Boinc Project? Nothing more to come in the future?

It's been going for more than 9 years, so yes it's finished for now. If, and that's a big IF, a new more efficient exhaustive search method is discovered in the future, then it will make sense to start the project again. But not at the moment.

So did we hit the 'end' of the "Amicable Numbers" or just a point where others are doing the new set of numbers? ie PrimeGrid does tasks from Point A to Point B for X type of numbers and then they usually setup a new sub-project for the next group ie going from Point D to Point G.

The project didn't scan the numbers sequentially, it was a bit more complicated than this. But all ranges below 1021 are done now (after more than 6 years), and going further is just not realistic with the current computing power - it will take 60 years or more to scan all ranges below 1022.

Wait until we get our quantum computers and we will be comparing what we have now, to how we compare to the computers used on the Apollo missions.

I think Admin should put something on the main page/news section about project reaching it's goal and being over for the time being.
