Posted 8 Apr 2026 by bluestang Post: Anyone manage to find any amicable pairs over the past few weeks at the end of this project? You can easily check them by going to your account home page and look for the latest entry in the "Amicable pairs discovered xxxx" field. Nope, last pair for me was back in 2024. |

Posted 31 Jan 2026 by bluestang Post: Straight from Sergei.. https://sech.me/boinc/Amicable/forum_thread.php?id=300&postid=2144#2144 There will be part 4 and it will take approximately 6 months. There are no other plans after that, so the project will most likely finish. I didn't think it was too difficult to understand. |

(Message 2170)
Posted 22 Jan 2026 by bluestang Post: Unfortunately the project is at end-of-life stage. It will be finished in early March, so there is no point to do more development work for it now. But that hardware you'll be getting looks really interesting though, I'm sure it will be very competitive on any BOINC project! It shows 45% More people seem to have started crunching again now that they heard is will be ending...more crunching power now=less time to complete. |

Posted 30 Nov 2020 by bluestang Post: Sometimes this only brings people for the credits and not for the science. What difference does it make? As long as the science is getting done. On the flip side is that people won't come for the science if the credits are too low based on amount of resources one has to use to get those credit. Also, science...really? This project is looking for numbers, not cures or drugs or trying to map out diseases/virus or anything like that...just numbers. |

Constant Computation errors
(Message 1280)
Posted 30 Oct 2019 by bluestang Post: Lag is because your system is constantly swapping in and out of virtual memory. I had that on my system with only 8GB RAM even when I increased virtual memory to 32GB on a SSD. |

Posted 26 Oct 2019 by bluestang Post: On one of my older machines that has an Intel i7-2600K@4.0GHz and 8GB RAM on W10 Pro it is running 2x 1660ti @ 1 task per GPU. I set my virtual memory on my SSD to 16GB min-24GB max so I don't get Computational Errors. System Manged virtual memory couldn't handle it properly on this machine. In BOINC 7.14.2 once it gets the first 1m the percentage starts counting, then after about 5 more seconds the percent resets back to 0 and continues as normal. I noticed extreme system lag when it get close to that first 1m mark and also at the end. No biggie except it my home PC, but if I or the wife needs to do something I will suspend BOINC for the duration. |

Posted 25 Oct 2019 by bluestang Post: Would be really nice to be able to run a a multi-GPU system without a large amount of RAM. Trying to run 2x GPUs in a system with 8 or 16GB of RAM is practically impossible with these new 10^21 WUs taking about 8GB of RAM for a single WU. |
