1) Message boards : Bug tracker : CPU WU running at only 25% of the cores and for a long time (Message 1526)

I got another WU like this on another PC and could watch it live during calculation.
It started with all 16 threads, at around 50% there were only 12 cores active, now at 93% it is decreased to 9 cores.
At the end it might be just 1 core?

In that case I obviously miss what your point is.

The point is: It is frustrating if I find a WU that is running the hole day and gives only the same credits like a WU that is running just an hour.
Examples:
https://sech.me/boinc/Amicable/result.php?resultid=40101886
https://sech.me/boinc/Amicable/result.php?resultid=40104651

I dont have a problem with a WU running twice the normal time. But 10x run time is not acceptable for the same credits.

If you dont want to INcrease the credits for such long running WUs, than you might DEcrease the credits for the short runners.

Otherwise people will abort all the long running WUs (at least I do it). Is that better for the science?
People who run their PC only 2-3h per day would have a problem with 22 hour WUs.

I have noticed a WU that is running now since 14 hours on my R9-3950X. All other WUs were finished in about 1 hour
This long running WU is also using only 8 Threads of the CPU - but it is stated as 32x.
The result is that the CPU is running hot (4 cores in full power) and idle at the same time.

Is this behaviour expected or is it a bug?

But why are there tasks send out that seem to use a GPU?
Wouldnt it be better to send only the CPU tasks?

Hi,

i am using a Vega VII and with standard kernel size 21 i got a run time of 12754,61s. The GPU-Load was about 0,00...1%.
For me it looks as if the GPU is not used.
Now i try 23 - but maybe there is something completely wrong if others have some minutes run times and i need hours?
