Um, Got a Couple of Whoppers?

Posted 24 Mar 2022 by Fuzzy Duck Post: I'm seeing a lot of multi-hour-long GPU WUs lately. I have one that's been running for 17 hours on an RTX 2060 (three tasks in tandem, admittedly) and it's barely at 50%. Is this to be expected more and more going forward? Any plans to update the credit system to address the task size disparity? I have the same issue. When I am using one of my machines, I will check BOINC. If I see a multi-hour GPU task running I usually abort it in the hope of getting a normal WU. Obviously, not feasible to monitor my machines 24/7. Anyone able to create a prefs file? |

No new amicable pairs found in 200 WU's. Anyone else?
(Message 1578)
Posted 28 Dec 2021 by Fuzzy Duck Post: As per my previous post you will see that pairs are currently discovered approximately once every 100 WU's. Given that you are not using a GPU client it will take some time to discover a pair. Historically pairs used to be discovered far more frequently. Based on my all-time stats I have discovered pairs more frequently than every 5 WU's. With larger numbers, it now takes many more WU's to accomplish this. |

(Message 1577)
Posted 27 Dec 2021 by Fuzzy Duck Post: I just checked the my stats and it seems my machines are finding around 5 pairs/day with an RAC of around 3.5 million. So on average 1 pair for every 700k RAC. Given that one WU is just below 7k credits this means my machines are finding one pair every 100 WU's. Obviously this is a back of an envelope calculation and your mileage will vary. |
