Edit: I re-read your post and you wrote "4 threads per WU". This is a multi-threaded application, it can use all CPU cores - you don't need to run many WUs in parallel. I tuned part 3 WUs to take ~2 hours on a 16-core Ryzen 7950X (using all 32 threads). Please note that GPUs are much faster with part 3 WUs (less than 2 minutes on RTX 4090), so CPUs are expected to be slow.

Thanks Sergei, I use what I have as I don't have any GPUs that can do this work.
I have upped my preferences from 4 threads to 8 threads for future work units (I don't think I can update an already downloaded work unit with new settings) and see how that goes.

Part 3 work units currently running on my Ryzen 5900X currently have been running for over 2 hours each (6 at a time on 4 cores each).
They are only at between 7.7 % and 11.4%, seems to be way longer than before.

PS:: The estimated completion times have blown out to over a day.

So that is where my hosts disappeared to, pity I have now lost all information and credit generated by those hosts.

Thank you Sergei,

I was and still am going for your original 1,000,000 badge but at least now I can say I have a badge at this project, 200,000 badge, soon to be 500,000 badge.

The Amicable pairs badge will still have to wait as I only have 52 of those.

I agree with Conan here. Benn here since start of the project and stopped at a time I reached the 200 Amic pairs badge and have yet to achieve a credit badge. Missed the release of the GPU-app though...

The first badge is given for 1,000,000 total credit,
Well, I have to say that's a ridiculously high credit level for the lowest credit badge. Compare it with all the other projects - which also have GPU apps (Asteroids, PrimeGrid no name a few) - and you see that this is not very appropriate.
There are people who don't use GPU-apps for whatever reason and/or don't have much computers and/or don't run a project 24 hours a day. How long should they run the project to get a higher badge then?
It's already necessary for a Quad-Core system to run almost 6 days non-stop to get the million badge for example.
Please adjust the credit levels to at least the tenth of it - would be way more appropriate I think.

It's OK DoctorNow, I was not complaining just stating that it will take me quite awhile to achieve any of the badges.
As Sergei has said it is not a sprint so that will suit me.
Targets are high yes, however you and I will get there but we wont do overnight.
When I do it will be an achievement and a half just on CPU.

I've added credit badges. The first badge is given for 1,000,000 total credit, the last badge is given for 1,000,000,000 total credit. I chose 1 million as an entry level because there are already 258 users above that value and their contribution is 97.2% of project's total credit. So if you've been active on the project, you should already have one of these badges.

Bronze stars: 1, 2, 5 million total credit
Silver stars: 10, 20, 50 million total credit
Gold stars: 100, 200, 500 million total credit
Big gold star: 1 billion total credit

Thanks Sergei, looks good.
I will one day get a badge of something I am not sure what.
Your comment "So if you've been active on the project, you should already have one of these badges." does not quite ring true for me.
I have been active on the project since it started, but as I only use CPU's and also run other projects I have yet to attain any badge (total under 400,000 and Amicable Pairs 52), but still going and hope to get them sooner than later.

The badges are good and a points total one would also be nice, but as I am only CPU currently, nearly any badge will be a long distant goal which I may or may not reach.
When my overall total is equalled per day by each of the top 20 volunteers, I know I am not in their league.
But I will still add my little trickle of data as I am sure it will add to the overall progress of the project.

The ones that can reach the various badge levels, go for it, I say.

You can surely reach "100 amicable pairs" badge, especially now: current WUs have a bit higher density of amicable pairs.

It has been a month since this post and no I have not yet reached 100 Amicable Pairs, just 42.

I have increased my computing time but this is not going to change much as the GPU's just wipe my poor little CPU's. But I will keep trying, 100, I am on my way (slowly).

I am trying, so far I have just 20, so still some more work to do to get to 100.

After 150,000 points I have 20,
so after 300,000 may have 40, after 1,200,000 I may have 80 and I may get 100 after 1,350,000 points

Of course that is not how they come about but it still means some work ahead for me anyway.
I have made a couple of setting changes so I will see what happens.

Great to see progress on the badge front! A few suggestions however...

If it is not too much trouble, I would suggest using the standard bronze, silver, gold for the first three badges.
Also, I agree with pututu regarding the levels chosen. Not all users have GPUs and can imagine users with a single slower dual or quad core machine even becoming discouraged at the distance to the next badge level. Reasonably obtainable badge levels encourage many users to stick around.

BTW: In my opinion, the badges don't need to be works of art. A simple representation of contribution is fine with me.

I have been credited with 12 found Amicable Pairs, however I only have 11 as one of the pairs does not have my name on it (Number 10 in my list)
