Your personal background.
In my early 50s at present (2020...) Was a math graduate student half a lifetime ago (and was very interested in number theory), still retain some interest - though my present work is not related to my concentration.
Your opinions about Amicable Numbers
1. I enjoy using BOINC to have my computer contribute to projects that I might have wanted to try to contribute to on my own anyway had things gone differently, is part of the answer - but as a general thing I find the notion of using my computer's down cycles to contribute to interesting ongoing math problems very pleasant. (The Collatz Conjecture and PrimeGrid projects also come to mind, for example.)
2. No serious issues. Slows my machine down some because it takes up all 4 cpus, but that becomes a "be aware that's going to happen" thing :) rather than a serious issue. Seems to handle resuming/suspending gpu computation (aka, computer is not/is being used for other things) well, which some other projects do not, always!
3. The PrimeGrid project seems more specific about solutions one's computer has obtained, which doesn't seem to be available here unless I'm mistaken- that might be a nice future addition. Edit: this is linked to (from the "Amicable Pairs Discovered" line on "Your Account") and so is already available- my mistake. Thank you.
