First of all, thanks to everyone participating in the project! I've noticed today that solved work units come in so fast that the server can't keep up. I had to double the size of each work unit (together with the credit for it) to reduce the load on the server. Keep crunching! Thanks again! |

Does this mean they're going to use 16GB of RAM now as well? |

No, GPU and CPU RAM requirements stay the same. |

Okay, thanks for the update. |

I like the new work unit size. With the more powerful GPU'S it makes sense. Thanks for being so attentive to the project. |

Yes I do also. Granted some of my slower GPUs aren't too happy about it. Haha. Thanks for working on a solution quickly. We really appreciate it. |

I thought my GPU frequency had dropped because the computing time for each task had doubled, until I saw this post. (@_@;) |

@Admin: I just found this thread because I was wondering why the WU I have keeps running past its deadline while in the past it returned on time. I run on CPU and doubling the size maybe fine for GPU but for those who run on CPU you should also increase the deadline. |

I've increased the deadline for new work units to 1 week. It is enough for all modern CPUs, if you run BOINC on more than 1 CPU core. |

Not really, cause I still haven't gotten replies for my questions about Apple Silicon and Windows 11 ARM support... |

I've noticed the double run time on work units but I'm still getting the same points The top two in the pic were my normal runtime and points. Now they are like the bottom one with 800+ runtimes. Will these be doubled? I have around 50 with double runtimes and the same points :o( Current work units have reverted to previous runtimes now. . . . |

All these tasks have the same amount of work, so the same amount of points. I don't know why your GPU processed them slower - maybe something else was using the GPU? |

The longer runtimes happened during the night but nothing else should have been running. Not to worry - all sorted now and trying 2 x WU's on my 7900XTX - seems to be doing well! |

I have also noticed some long-running task times on a 4080 super. Ran for just over 14 minutes https://sech.me/boinc/Amicable/result.php?resultid=97103607 Ran for just over 13 minutes https://sech.me/boinc/Amicable/result.php?resultid=97107893 I gather this is something to do with my hardware as this is happened before. I believe the above tasks are running over twice the amount of time they should be. Since task time nine double I believe that should be a maximum of just over 6 minutes Generally tasks seem to run around this 3 minute mark https://sech.me/boinc/Amicable/result.php?resultid=97107075 |

Same issue here: tasks on my RTX3060 normally complete in around 8 minutes, but over last few days most are taking around 12 minutes. Occassionally I get a run of 'normal' times again for a few hours - are there some longer batches being released? No known changes to my hardware or software running during this time. |

No, task sizes are the same now. Maybe your GPU or the room it's in got more warm? |

Hi Sergei, there's been no significant change in room temperature and with the slower run-times the GPU was running a few degrees cooler than normal - however; your comments led me to give the GPU fans a bit of a clean and... straight away tasks are now completing in 8 minutes again! Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. |

Update: Things got weirder! So, having cleaned and restarted my PC as per my last post I watched a few GPU tasks finish in 'normal' speed and posted the message above thinking all was fine. However, I have since discovered that if the BOINC Task Manager is Maximised then GPU tasks run at the 'normal' speed, BUT if I Minimise the Task Manager then every task takes 50% longer. Note that this behaviour only happens with my GPU tasks, the CPU tasks from another project run at their normal speed regardless. Any clues as to what's happening? Has a recent Windows update caused this? I have only noticed the increased run-times in the last few days. My system has remained unchanged through this period: Windows 11 (24H2), i7, RTX3060, 32GB RAM. |
